Proud Sponsor Program Is a Big Hit!

The Foundation for Haslett Schools is “Proud” to again contribute to the Proud Sponsor program that provides funding for our libraries to grow their collections and gives students a feeling of ownership as they take part in selecting the books to be added to the stacks at their school.

The Proud Sponsor program, funded also by the PTO, allows families to add a book to their student’s library for only $6. Students pick a book from a set of pre-selected titles during library time, and a bookplate is added inside the book recognizing that student as a Proud Sponsor – and visible to all who check out the book while it remains in circulation.

Over the course of the school year, a hallway display fills with photos of students who sponsor books. Those students also are recognized during their class visits to the library, and they are allowed to be the first to check out the book they and their families sponsor.

The Proud Sponsor program was on full display during this fall’s Open House at Ralya Elementary School. Librarian Jen Garmon said that as of November, nearly 40 families already had sponsored a book for the 2023-24 school year.
