This year, Ralya, Murphy, and Wilkshire buildings had the privilege of hosting a special visit from the renowned illustrator Kate Cosgrove, thanks to the support of the Annual Special Allocations fund from the Foundation for Haslett Schools. As a New York Times best-selling illustrator, Kate Cosgrove brought a world of creativity and inspiration to our students through her captivating artwork. The visit was an unforgettable experience for both students and staff alike, fostering a deeper appreciation for the art of illustration and sparking imaginations.
Our Foundation's Board Members volunteered their time to help at the event, and were thrilled to see how excited the students were for this incredible opportunity. During the visit, our young learners engaged in a variety of activities that showcased Katie Cosgrove's talent and journey as an illustrator. Through read-aloud sessions, students were transported into the vibrant worlds she creates with her illustrations, igniting their imaginations and love for storytelling. Additionally, they had the opportunity to learn about Katie's personal history and the path she took to become a successful illustrator, inspiring them to pursue their own passions with determination and perseverance.
One of the highlights of the visit was the guided illustration session, where students had the chance to participate in creating artwork alongside Katie Cosgrove. Working together as a large group, they explored their own creativity and learned valuable techniques from a seasoned professional. The experience not only enhanced their artistic skills but also fostered collaboration and teamwork among peers. Overall, Katie Cosgrove's visit was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on our students and reinforcing the importance of supporting arts education in our schools.
